Visit Oporto - itinerary 1
Porto Soul offers you the best places to visit
OPORTO SOUL has chosen two itineraries so that you don’t miss anything that is important to know in the city of Porto. Follow this first itinerary, with a short explanation of the referenced point and check its location on the map. Visit places like Mercado do Bolhão, Avenida dos Aliados and Câmara Municipal, Livraria Lello & Irmão, the magnificent Torre dos Clérigos, and much more.

MERCADO DO BOLHÃO
VISIT 1
It won't be long, but until then you won't find it here, but at the La Vie Porto Baixa Shopping Center (Rua Fernandes Tomás) where they opened a space for the temporary market.

AVENIDA DOS ALIADOS
VISIT 2
The buildings unequivocally demonstrate the importance of this square, competing in the exuberance of their respective architectural styles. Mandatory stop on any itinerary in Porto!

LIVRARIA LELLO & IRMÃO
VISIT 3
This bookshop with an exuberant design, curvilinear staircase in wood covered in red is historic and is on all the tops of the most beautiful bookstores in the world (if it isn't, it should).

TORRE DOS CLÉRIGOS
VISIT 4
The ornate Igreja dos Clérigos is also worth a visit. The highlight of this Baroque temple is the marble altar. It is, literally, one of the highest points of this Porto itinerary.

MERCADO FERREIRA BORGES
VISIT 5
It is representative of the wrought iron architecture in Porto and today houses the beer restaurant O Mercado and the Hard Club, a space for musical and cultural events with personality.

PALÁCIO DA BOLSA
VISIT 6
Not so much for its imposing exterior but for the interior halls that are of a splendor that amazes all visitors.
The Arab Room is one of the most praised for its opulent and brilliant ornamentation, but each room has a rare sumptuousness.

IGREJA DE SÃO FRANCISCO
VISIT 7
They call it the “golden church” and those who visit immediately understand why. The highlight is always given to the Tree of Jesse, but we cannot say which of the chapels is more beautiful.

MIRAGAIA
VISIT 8
Let's take a liking to some of the aspects that characterize Porto: the first images of the typical houses, the narrow iron balconies lined with vases of flowers, clothes hanging on the ropes and crochet curtains; from neighborhoods at river level with community fountains such as Chafariz da Colher or Fonte do Bicho; of churches covered in blue and white tiles.

FOZ
VISIT 9
Foz is the bathing area of Porto. The waterfront invites you to take long walks, which makes it a favorite spot for many people from Porto to stretch their legs or go jogging. And all this while enjoying the views over the Atlantic Ocean.

Visit Oporto - Itinerary 2
oporto soul propõe-lhe os melhores pontos para visitar
OPORTO SOUL has chosen two itineraries so that you don’t miss anything that is important to know in the city of Porto. Follow this second itinerary, with a short explanation of the referenced point and check its location on the map. Visit places like Café MAjestic, Batalha, São João National Theater, São Bento Station, Porto Cathedral or D. Luís I Bridge.

CAFÉ MAGESTIC
VISIT 1

PRAÇA DA BATALHA
VISIT 2
The current temple dates from the 18th century, the tiles were only added in the 1930s and are by Jorge Rey Colaço, the same ceramist responsible for the panels at the São Bento Station.

ESTAÇÃO DE SÃO BENTO
VISIT 4
One of the panels depicts scenes of rural life in the north, while the others focus on historical episodes such as the Conquest of Ceuta, the Battle of Arcos de Valdevez and the presentation of Egas Moniz to the king.

SÉ DO PORTO
VISIT 5
Inside we have the sumptuous baroque altar from the 17th century and the well-known organs of the Sé do Porto and, for those interested, the Museu Tesouro da Sé do Porto.

CONVENTO DOS GRILOS
VISIT 6
Because of its hidden location, Colégio dos Grilos is one of the most forgotten in Porto, a well-kept secret as it houses the Museum of Sacred Art and Archeology of Porto. The facade is in the Baroque-Jesuit Mannerist style and it is a pity that we can only appreciate it in passing because, say those who live there, that the interior is enough to bring a person to his knees.

PONTE D. LUÍS I
VISIT 7
Cross to relax and enjoy two of the best viewpoints in the city of Porto, especially at the end of the day: Miradouro da Serra do Pilar and Jardim do Morro.

CAVES VINHO DO PORTO
VISIT 8
The Douro riverside in Vila Nova de Gaia is always full of entertainment, stalls selling a little bit of everything, and, invariably, many tourists.

CAIS DA RIBEIRA
VISIT 9
The physiognomy is clearly medieval, in the narrow alleys, in the asymmetrical corners, in the Romanesque arches, in the organized disorder of a city that was born glued to walls.
